Description
Join a collaborative and mission-driven team advancing clinical research within the Clinical Microbiology R&D lab of Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. We’re seeking a motivated Staff Research Associate I to support essential laboratory operations that drive the accuracy, quality, and impact of our research. In this role, you’ll work closely with researchers and investigators to perform critical laboratory tasks, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to innovative research projects. Key duties include:
•Conduct research activities involving clinical assays, including microbiological and molecular techniques.
•Process specimens, prepare reagents, and perform data entry and analysis in alignment with established laboratory and study protocols.
•Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on laboratory instruments and equipment.
•Support quality assurance by maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to regulatory and compliance standards.
•Collaborate with team members to advance ongoing research projects and operational goals.
•Assist in preparing abstracts, manuscripts, and other scholarly materials.
•Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering and stocking supplies, and assist with general clerical and support tasks during downtime.
Salary Range: $28.69/hour - $34.21/hour
Qualifications
•Knowledge of basic science and laboratory terminology required.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
•Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
•Ability to travel to various Westwood sites for specimen collection and delivery.
•Knowledge in performing molecular and/or microbiology laboratory techniques is highly preferred (e.g. PCR library prep, sequencing, conventional culture methods, gram stain preparation and interpretation, handling of human clinical specimens, handling of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and/or fungi).
•Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline preferred.
