Researcher 1: Microbiology and Immunology
Summary of Position:The Selmecki lab invites applications from candidates for a researcher 1 position. Thecandidate will join a research team studying genome plasticity and drug resistance infungal pathogens (Candida species). We use evolutionary approaches to understandthe rate and dynamics in which mutations arise in fungal populations, in the presenceand absence of antifungal drugs. Additionally, we use comprehensive genomictechniques, including Illumina and MinION whole genome sequencing, qPCR, ddPCR,and CRISPr-Cas9 engineering to identify novel mechanisms of antifungal drugresistance. We have identified genome rearrangements that cause drug resistance, including novel chromosome structures, copy number variation, and recombinatio
