Job Description:
The De Nisco lab at the University of Texas at Dallas is looking for a postdoctoral scholar to contribute to an NIH-funded project investigating the spatial and temporal dynamics of the urogenital microbiome during recurrent urinary tract infection. In this position, the candidate will learn how to manage human cohorts, work with human samples, generate and analyze large 'omics datasets, and how to culture and manipulate fastidious microbial species obtained from human samples.
The postdoctoral scholar will receive direct mentored training from Dr. De Nisco and collaborating faculty in manuscript preparation, grant and fellowship writing, laboratory administration, graduate student mentorship, collaboration management, and scientific networking. In addition to working on the funded project, the postdoctoral scholar will be able to explore new avenues of research that align with the larger research mission of the De Nisco lab. The De Nisco lab is an supportive laboratory environment that values mutual respect, collaborative science, and high-quality research. Candidates with bioinformatics experience or a desire to learn how to implement bioinformatics pipelines necessary for the analysis of shotgun metagenomic data will be given preference.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D in a related field.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Doctoral degree and experience in bioinformatics and/or microbiology with an interest in learning bioinformatics. Specific experience in a microbiome field (human or environmental) is preferred but not required.
