Research Specialist in Proteomics - Roy J. Carver Biotechnology Center

The Roy J. Carver Biotechnology Center (CBC) provides a state-of-the-art research infrastructure to investigators. Our portfolio includes core research facilities supporting genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, flow cytometry and translational medical research.
Job Summary Perform sample preparation, instrument calibration and operation, and data analysis; provide assistance in the operation of the Proteomics Core Facility. Duties & Responsibilities
Provide protein extraction, sample cleanup (precipitation, SPE, and affinity column), in-gel and in-solution protein digestion, lyophilization, and stable isotope tag labeling
Perform LC-MS analyses using Thermo Fusion Orbitrap, Q Exactive HF-X, and Q Exactive UHMR mass spectrometers, as well as Advion TriVersa NanoMate robots and Thermo UltiMate 3000 and Vanquish chromatography systems
Maintain equipment calibration and perform routine maintenance
Analyze and interpret experimental results and disseminate scientific data to end users with various software tools such as Mascot, ProteomeDiscover, Byonic, and MaxQuant
Inventory and monitor laboratory supplies and make purchases as needed
Keep laboratory in compliance with DRS safety guidelines and protocols
Assist facility users with sample submission and use of shareable instruments
Minimum Qualifications
M.S. in Chemistry or an alternate physical/life sciences major with one year of experience relevant to this position in an academic or industrial lab setting or Ph.D. in Chemistry or an alternate physical/life sciences major with no additional experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
M.S. in Chemistry or an alternate physical/life sciences major with three years of experience relevant to this position in an academic research or industrial lab setting or Ph.D. in Chemistry or an alternate physical/life sciences major with one year of experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills. Knowledge of life sciences wet lab protocol.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. The salary range is $50,000 - $62,000, and commensurate with experience. Application Procedures & Deadline Information
