Job Description This individual will be responsible for experiments to investigate the mechanisms of transcription and genome replication of non-segmented negative strand RNA viruses. The research will involve protein purification, radioactive biochemical enzyme assays, cell transfection assays, protein, RNA and DNA analysis using gel electrophoresis, virus preparation and infections, and molecular cloning using yeast. Although the position is largely focused on performing laboratory research, lab responsibilities will also include taking on laboratory organization, such as: keeping laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt; keeping equipment operating by following operating instructions and organizing necessary repairs; maintaining supplies maintaining laboratory safety. The position also involves interacting positively and constructively with all lab members and engaging in discussions of data and ideas.
