Position Summary:
The Technical Coordinator-Laboratory is responsible for providing assistance to the section supervisor and/or manager for the technical, quality and operational oversight within assigned areas of responsibility in the Laboratory assuring that patient care needs are met in accordance with physician orders, established policies and procedures in an environment that facilitates optimal, cost efficient patient care delivery. This position provides indirect oversight to technical and non-technical staff and works closely with the section supervisor and/or manager including assistance with the day-to-day operations of assigned areas, ensuring the availability and appropriate utilization of needed human and material resources. It supports collaboration between the technical and clerical staff, nursing, physicians, and other disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes. Work situations vary and require technical expertise, prioritization, and the use of discretion, good judgment, independent problem solving, and a willingness and desire to work closely with staff for process improvement. Major decisions are subject to the review and approval of the Section Manager or Administrator of the Laboratory. Internal contacts include physicians, staff, and management throughout the medical center. External contacts include patients, families, physicians and peers.

Minimum Requirements:
Three (3) years experience in clinical laboratory specialty
One (1) year leadership and or training experience

Education/Licenses/Certifications:
BS in Medical Technology or equivalent
AMT. or ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist-certification maintained
Specialized certification (SM) or eligible preferred
