We are looking for qualified applicants to be teaching assistants for a cornerstone course of the MS in Biotechnology, the Biotechnology Applications Laboratory course, which teaches important concepts in bioprocess engineering using microbial and mammalian cell platforms. Responsibilities will include basic lab skills such as preparing solutions, autoclaving media, maintaining gas lines, and keeping the lab safe and operation. Specific tasks with which the lab manager will aid the faculty instructor include, but are not limited to, cell culture, HPLC analysis, bioreactor use, gel electrophoresis, and other analytical instruments. Miscellaneous tasks as required.
Under the supervision of the instructor, the teaching assistant will be responsible for attending two sections of lab per week and aiding with instruction, student support and grading as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
BS in life sciences or related area with experience required. Experience with above activities and techniques preferred. Having worked in a research or development academic or industry lab is a plus. Must be able to work 20 hours per week including weekends. CV/resume and cover letter required.
