As a board-certified or eligible Clinical Microbiologist you would serve as a Director of our microbiology laboratory here at Northwest Permanente. You will be joining our highly collaborative team of clinicians and physicians. You will be adding to a group of 18 Pathologists with 6 PA's and 3 PhD's. Our microbiology lab has a state-of-the-art, automated Copan system as well as MALDI and molecular testing platforms. Our practice is high volume and fast paced.
You will oversee bacteriology, virology, mycology and serology testing.
You will be responsible for technical oversight, communication with clinicians, and development of new test offerings for the medical group.
You will serve as the technical consultant for all microbiology testing overseeing virology and molecular testing for infectious diseases.
You will maintain a strong collaboration with the Infectious Disease Department.
This position will be physically located at our regional reference laboratory in Portland.
You will report directly to the chief of Clinical Pathology.
Qualifications and Expectations:
You must be ABMM board-certified or eligible.
Having previous experience directing a clinical microbiology lab is desired.
You will be expected to cover services in two hospitals and one regional lab.
You must possess expertise, and stay current, on clinical microbiology and molecular infectious disease testing.
You will lead laboratory projects such as the purchase and validation of new instruments.
