Sr. Program Manager - Brock Family Center for Applied Innovation

The Senior Program Manager will provide project management experience to continue developing a systems approach to advancing VUMC Academic and Enterprise-wide priorities and mission to personalize the patient experience through our caring spirit and distinctive capabilities. The Senior Program Manager will be expected to grow and manage programs independently in support of the Chief Scientific and Strategy Officer (CSSO) on strategic projects and institutional initiatives through planning, development, and execution, including frequent interactions with executive leadership, faculty, and administrators. The ideal candidate will combine insights and knowledge into biomedicine and healthcare with experience in advancing entrepreneurship.
Experience with science communications, including professional website and social media account management, strongly preferred
Experience with biomedical science or health care or entrepreneurship project management, strongly preferred
Experience with academic-industry partnerships, strongly preferred
Experience with evaluating technologies and health care services for start-up potential, strongly preferred
Ph.D. in biomedical sciences or related fields, a plus
Work to ensure VUMC strategy continues to encompass the organization's purpose and values with a focus on coordinating and articulating medium- and long-term goals. Overall responsibilities include working with the CSSO on VUMC strategic projects and programs, communicating and coordinating with project leaders, and facilitating integration of activities that are aligned with overall strategic directions while monitoring and measuring the benefits of activities from a programmatic perspective.
A major focus of the role will be to project manage the launch and ongoing activities of a new Brock Family Center for Applied Innovation, of great strategic importance, which will enable Vanderbilt faculty to commercialize ongoing innovation in biomedical and health sciences.
Under the direction of leadership:
Develop opportunities for commercialization and industry partnerships.
Support establishment of shared resources and a pipeline to enable launch of new companies and key industry/venture collaborations
Manage outreach to, and coordinate pitches from, biotech and health tech startup companies interested in partnering with VUMC
Write correspondence on behalf of leadership and facilitate process for submittals
Assist with and coordinate market assessments of new technologies and heath care services to determine potential size of commercial impact, competing products, business models, types and names of potential licensees, suitability for a startup company, strategic partners and investors, and contacts within such partners in preparation for active marketing and development of the technology
Assist with and coordinate due diligence on promising technologies and business concepts
Prepare summaries and marketing materials for each new technology or service and start-up opportunity, as appropriate; develop pitch decks; post marketing materials to Brock Center website; update and maintain such marketing materials.
Assist Vanderbilt-affiliated start-up and early-stage companies in seeking and securing capital investment.
Outreach to Vanderbilt faculty, staff and students to raise awareness of Brock Center's functions and services. Support innovation and entrepreneurship on campus and in the local community.
Outreach to industry, colleagues and the general public to raise awareness of Brock Center's accomplishments, practices, technologies available for licensing and venture investment and other communications and written materials
Participate in educational activities on campus, including departmental talks, guidance and education to faculty, sponsored research administration, upper administration, hosting of talks by external subject matter experts, sharing of information and/or resources with Vanderbilt community, for the purpose of educating Vanderbilt constituents on issues related to the Brock Center, innovation management, and entrepreneurship.
Assist in the preparation of reports for Vanderbilt leadership and for regional and state economic development stakeholders summarizing Vanderbilt efforts in support for entrepreneurship and new venture activities.
