Perform Bench Research (70%):

• Mammalian Tissue Culture
• Virus quantification and propagation
• Nucleic acid purification and manipulation
• PCR, quantitative-PCR
• Molecular cloning
• Transfection and Transformation
• Primer design
• Lentivirus production
• shRNA and CRISPR/Cas70

General Laboratory Management (20%):

• Maintain lab stocks and place lab orders
• Maintain lab equipment (incubators, microscopes, etc)
• Maintain IRB and other regulatory approvals
• Maintain lab safety records

Other Duties as assigned (10%):

• Preparing data for presentation or publication
• Aid in training undergraduates
• Requires the ability to work occasional weekend hours

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials

Required Qualifications:

• BS/BA in microbiology, biology, cell biology, biochemistry, genetics or related field or a related discipline or a combination of education and work experience to equal four years

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year laboratory research experience. Experience in mammalian cell culture, virus propagation, nucleic acid isolation and manipulation, DNA transfection, cloning and generation of recombinant viruses.  A demonstrated proficiency in generating standard operating procedures and data analysis is also beneficial.
