Primary responsibility is the preparation of the microbiology labs.
Lab preparation of microbiology labs includes full responsibility for culturing microbes, preparing chemicals, and preparing all equipment for student use. Set up of weekly labs, maintenance of materials throughout the week, and clean-up are also assumed under this description. Coordination with the Lab Supervisor is needed to ensure that appropriate materials are ordered and received in a timely manner. Equipment maintenance/repair is also coordinated with the supervisor.
Monitor student use of microbiology lab outside of normal laboratory hours as needed.
Develop and maintain printed records for student and instructor use.
Pursue, suggest, and develop, and test the use of modified and/or new labs.
Monitor work study students with the coordination of the Lab Supervisor.
Assume additional duties of lab preparation, setup, and clean-up for other laboratory classes as time permits.
Fill-in for the microbiology instructor as needed.
Teach one section of microbiology laboratory per semester.
Requires prolonged sitting, standing, bending, stooping and stretching.
Must communicate by verbal feedback in a professional manner.
Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions.
Start Date: Fall 2021

Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in microbiology. Master’s Degree in microbiology preferred. Experience in microbiology preparation (culturing of microbes, media preparation, chemical preparation, autoclave use) required.
