This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. 

This position is in the Department of Molecular Microbiology.  This position is for the Medical School Campus.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the lab of Dr. Shabaana Khader, Department of Molecular Microbiology (www.khaderlab.wustl.edu). The senior technician will be part of an integrated team of researchers who will be involved in understanding the basis of protection against the disease tuberculosis. The technician will assist in studies to understand the molecular mechanisms that can be targeted to improve vaccines and therapeutics for tuberculosis.

This position independently performs complex research studies, experiments and assays. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs complex analysis/projects according to research protocols, explaining methods and procedures to other technicians.
2. Provides for data entry and current data files on research projects.  Monitors data to ensure consistent quality.
3. May perform preliminary statistical analysis of data.
4. Assures compliance with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
5. Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.

Master’s degree with two years of experience in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling seven years.

• Previous experience with mouse colony maintenance.
• Experience with flow cytometry, imaging and tissue culture techniques is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
• Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
• Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.

The hiring range for this position is $17.00 - $22.96 per hour.
