APostdoctoral Fellow position is available in Dr. Elizabeth Fitzpatrick lab, Departmentof Microbiology, Immunology and Biochemistry, University of Tennessee HealthScience Center. The postdoctoral fellow must have a strong background in immunology,particularly with a focus in neuroimmunology or infectious disease or molecularbiology. The fellow will join a dynamic research team composed of Drs.Fitzpatrick and Scott Strome. Researchwill involve both human and animal research. The laboratory focus is on identifyingthe mechanisms by which IVIG replacement therapy inhibits infectious andneuroinflammatory disorders. The fellow will investigate the ability of theseIVIG replacements to inhibit pathology in animal models of SARS CoV-2 and alphaencephalitic viruses in the regional biocontainment laboratory, which requires clearancefrom the Department of Justice. Preference will be given to individuals willing towork in BSL3 laboratory, have experience in T cell biology, viral immunology orneuroinflammation, ability and experience working with mouse models. Good oral communication and writing skills are amust. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to author or co-authorpublications, submit postdoctoral training grants with the mentors help,participate in appropriate Journal clubs and seminars and work well in a teamenvironment.
