1.Lead the Employees â“ Has a working knowledge of performance expectations for assigned micro team.
a.Monitors performance of the staff and reportâ™s findings to the Support Staff Coordinator and
takes corrective action for improvement as appropriate.
Uses independent judgment to make recommendations to Support Staff Coordinator regarding:
ïƒ˜ï Applicant selection for interview and input into the hiring process after actively
participating in the interview process.
ïƒ˜Perform evaluations/validation of supervised employees.
ïƒ˜ï Recommends promotion of supervised employees, recommends bonuses and
awarding of other discretionary rewards to supervised employees.
ïƒ˜ï The adjustment/resolution of complaints, concerns, and problems of supervised
employees regarding work assignments, hours of work overtime scheduling, and
other work-related matters.

2.Follows laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing.
3.Performs and reports all Laboratory patient testing in a timely and accurate manner.
4.Provides technical oversight to the department during scheduled shifts.
5.Assists in establishing and adheres to laboratory's Quality Control policies and documents all Quality Control activities.
6.Coordinates and insures accuracy and completeness of department quality assurance activities.
7.Coordinates and insures maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting of department instrumentation and test systems.
8.Assists in establishing and assures corrective action policies are followed whenever test systems operate outside established parameters; assures documentation of specific action taken.
9.Identifies and resolves problems that adversely affect test performance or the correct reporting of test results and corrects problems; also helps resolve clerical, phlebotomy, specimen, billing, and customer service problems.
10.Communicates with nursing floors, physician offices, and other clients with regard to critical and stat test results; problems with specimens and/or orders; properly documents communication.
11.Assists in managing external proficiency testing for department.
12.Orders and maintains necessary supplies/reagents for department.
13.Prepares and maintains department policies and procedures.
14.Insures quality of department test results by evaluating competency and providing training to department technical staff.
15.Assists in providing appropriate staffing through scheduling work assignments and tasks to maximize productivity and efficiency.
16.Provides department performance assessment to appropriate supervisor for employee appraisals.
17.Determines training and in-servicing needs in the laboratory; provides training as needed.
18.Participation and compliance with Laboratory Quality Assurance program.
19.Successfully participates in external and/or internal proficiency testing.
20.Reviews âœResult Review Queueâ for accuracy on a daily basis â“ or as needed.
21.Demonstrates leadership and serves as laboratory representative and liaison.
22.Assures workflow continuity through communication.
23.Maintains regular dialog with Laboratory supervisory / managerial staff concerning quality, safety, and Standards of Behavior issues within the department and the facility.
24.Demonstrates ability to accept and facilitate change.
25.Provides leadership and support to laboratory and other FHW personnel (peers, subordinates, medical staff, and others) in developing and maintaining effective and positive relationships.

28.Receives specimens from outside clients, in house deliveries, and pneumatic tube system; checks specimens against order for correctness; records receipt in LIS system; attaches laboratory labels and delivers specimens to appropriate laboratory area.
29.Uses LIS system for collection verification, ordering, canceling, and inquiry functions.
30.Assists in stocking store room and work areas with supplies of varying weight and size.
31.Organizes work area and adheres to infection control policies.
32.Creates reports, memos, letters, and other communications as needed.
33.Participates in team interviewing when requested.
34.Other duties as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Â·BS degree in science or medical technology with at least 5 years of clinical laboratory experience in high complexity testing.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Â·Meet Federal & Government CLIA requirements as a Technical Supervisor.
Â·Current Florida license as a Laboratory Supervisor (all areas preferred).
Provides information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses. Monitors workflow and valuates compliance with service guarantees.Provides daily technical supervision.
