Public Equity (EQ) The Public Equity (EQ) department pursues active management strategies in equity investing. We invest globally and are organised along product groups specialising in different total return, relative return and quantitative strategies.
The Global Emerging Markets Focus (GEMF) team manages a concentrated portfolio of stocks in emerging markets like China, India, Russia and Brazil. The team consists of a group of generalist portfolio managers, each with his/her own domain expertise in certain markets or sectors. Collectively, we run a team portfolio of stocks exposed to long-term structural EM growth drivers.
We are looking for a Specialist Researcher to help us conduct research into highly technical subjects that are likely to be long-term drivers of Emerging Markets growth. Areas of particular interest to us are semiconductors and biotechnology. Candidates are expected to be domain experts in either of these areas.
The candidate will join the team on a 2 years contract (with full employment terms & benefits). Strong performers will have the opportunity to be offered a permanent position at the end of the contract.
Conduct deep dive research into semiconductors or biotechnology. Focus on longer-term trends in these areas, and technologies that could be particularly impactful to the world.
Recommend and look into companies and sectors that are likely to benefit from structural trends in semiconductors or biotechnology.
Work with portfolio managers and analysts to translate research insights into investment ideas that will be impactful to the portfolio.
Communicate research findings through detailed write-ups and presentations.
1-5 years of working experience.
Strong background in semiconductors or biotechnology. Candidates with working experience in these fields will be favourably considered.
Candidates should possess a degree in fields related to semiconductors or biotechnology. Candidates with Masters and PhDs will be favourably considered.
Strong network of industry and/or academic contacts in semiconductors or biotechnology.
Strong intellectual curiosity and a desire to fully understand technically difficult subjects.
Ability to independently conduct research and identify long-term structural trends in semiconductors or biotechnology.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A background in finance is not necessary, but an interest in investing would be helpful.
