Under the directsupervision of the Laboratory Manager, coordinates the Path AnatomicalDepartment operation. Histology Coordinator assures that the department meetstechnical requirements for all regulatory agencies. Evaluates and establishesnew procedures and reviews existing policies and procedures, and implementchanges where needed. Reviews all quality control in the department andresolves any associated problems. He/she will help develop, implement, andmonitor the department budget.TheCoordinator will help with new staff orientation and ongoing competencies forall staff in the department.Maintainsexcellent communication with Laboratory Manager, Laboratory Director andPathologists. Performs all responsibilities of a bench technologist inHistology. Must be technically proficient and detail-oriented and capable ofperforming several diverse tasks at the same time. Other related duties asrequired or assigned by the Laboratory Manager.The Coordinator communicates with other allied health care professionalsaccording to job requirements.He/shemaintains current procedural protocols, computer files, equipment maintenanceprogram, and quality control data.Directs the quality improvement program of the Histology department.

Eligible for registry; continued employment will be based on licensure
AS or BS degree in relatedsciences preferred
Two to four years ofrecent experience in related field
Must have a workingknowledge of the theories and applications of Histology using extensiveautomated equipment
Must be able to make independentdecisions and demonstrate effective oral and written communication
Must have the ability towork with departmental instrumentation and systems
Must demonstrate aboveaverage manual dexterity and visual acuity and possess good color discriminationskills
Must be able to work underpressure and demonstrate ability to coordinate multiple procedures, handlefrequent interruptions, and supervise diverse personalities and skill levels
Must demonstrate goodfiscal management skills
Degree of Supervision Required:
Must be able to workindependently within laboratory guidelines; must have the ability to make gooddecisions about the need to solicit input from the Lab Manager, LaboratoryDirector and/or Clinical Pathologist(s)
Must proceed on his/herown initiative in compliance with policies, procedures, and practicesprescribed by the Laboratory Management and Clinical Pathologists
