We are seeking a laboratory technician that will be responsible for performing biomedical assays in the Department of Microbiology at Boston University Medical Center.
Maintain routine lab equipment and chemicals.
Isolate peripheral blood mononuclear cells from human blood samples.
Perform analytical assays as required, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR/qPCR, gel electrophoresis of DNA samples, DNA/RNA sample purification.
Do cell staining and prepare the cell samples for FACS sorting.
Prepare cell samples for cryopreservation.
Keep accurate and timely logs
Generate reports of experiment results
The position requires a bachelors degree in biology, biotechnology, biomedicine or equivalent. Previous biological or biotechnological laboratory experience (1+ year) is required. Experience and knowledge with immunoassays, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR and molecular cloning are highly preferred but not required. Must be able to follow directions, maintain accurate and timely records, be ready to learn new techniques, and have high standards of quality.
