Carries out and oversees specialized analyses and/or syntheses of nucleic acids, proteins, or other molecules using biotechnical instrumentations and subsequent analysis using bioinformatics softwares/packages. Performs laboratory techniques of a specialized nature. Responsible for analysis of Next Generation sequencing (NGS) transcriptomics, genomics data and corresponding downstream molecular biology applications.

Required Skill/ability 1: Computer skills for genomic and transcriptomic analysis, familiarity with RNA-seq data quality control manipulation and analysis pipelines (ex. Flexbar, CLC Workbench platform, The Tuxedo package), and/or denovo Genomic and Transcriptomic assembly (SOAPdevono/Trinity), familiarity with R and associated packages (EdgeR/DESeq) and/or familiarity with PERL/Python scripting.
Required Skill/ability 2: Wetbench skills in recProtein expression and/or RNA/DNA extraction, RNAi application, primer design or qPCR analysis.
Required Skill/ability 3: Ability to manage and organize large-scale datasets.
Required Skill/ability 4: Knowledge of invertebrate models or eukaryotic pathogens.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Master's degree with a focus in microbial systems, genomic methods and molecular technologies with a strong background in Microbiology. Laboratory experience with next gen functional genomics methods. Evidence of contribution to publications.

Master's Degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or other related discipline and one year experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
