Research Specialist – Microbiology(Disease Diagnostics)
The Center for WildlifeHealth, located within The Department ofForestry, Wildlife & Fisheries at the University of Tennessee Institute ofAgriculture-Knoxville, is seeking a full-time Research Specialist to assistwith the diagnostics of wildlife pathogens. The individual will work with amulti-disciplinary and multi-institutional team investigating the pathogenicityand transmission dynamics of the recently discovered chytrid fungus, Batrachochytriumsalamandrivorans (Bsal). TheNational Science Foundation is funding this research, with at least two yearssupport for this position. The individualwill perform DNA extractions, quantitative PCR, and prepare H&E slides fromamphibian samples collected during controlled laboratory experiments. Culturing Bsalfor experiments also will be a responsibility. Immediate supervisors will be Drs. Matthew Gray and Debra Miller.
