Salary: $4,000/month ($48,000/year) This person in this position will be developing and analyzing novel mathematical models of CD8 T cell response to Plasmodium liver stages. These models will be then compared to experimental data collected by a subcontractor on the grant from Australian National University. The person will be also involved in the analysis of experimental data, writing and publishing papers on the performed research, making presentations in the laboratory and at national and international conferences. The person in this position will work closely with Vitaly V. Ganusov (PI on the project). The qualified candidate will provide expertise in analysis of experimental data using mathematical modeling.
Qualifications Responsibilities / Duties: The candidate will be responsible for: 1) design of novel mathematical models of the CD8 T cell response in the liver; 2) analysis of these mathematical models; 3) analysis of experimental data coming from intravital imaging experiments and experiments involving vaccination and challenging of mice with Plasmodium parasites; 4) writing papers on the performed research, submitting these papers for publication, and presenting this research at meetings. Requirements: 1) PhD (or equivalent) in mathematics, biology, physics or similar area. 2) Previous documented experience in mathematical/computational biology. 3) Solid knowledge of one of a higher level programming languages (R, python, Matlab, Mathematica, or similar). 4) Excellent oral and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications:
Basic understanding of infectious disease biology
